During a visit to Rhode Island, Jose a. Rico, Executive Director of the White House initiative on educational excellence for Hispanic, told The Associated Press that the number of young Latin enrolling in College has exploded but students still face significant challenges in getting their degrees.
Obama proposes doubling the number of jobs working for the State of the Union address on Tuesday. The Government is now spending nearly $ 1 billion a year on the job work, said Eduardo Ochoa, Assistant Secretary in the Office of Postsecondary education for the u.s. Department of Education.
Rico, during a visit to Rhode Island College, said: “One proposal, which will ensure that many students would stay and finish.”
Increasing funding for Pell grants and more affordable student loans have made it easier for Hispanic to enroll in College, the focus has shifted to ensure graduate student, says Rico.
