Asian markets soar Central Bank action

Asian stocks soared Thursday after six major central bank to act to lower borrowing costs in hopes of preventing a global credit crisis, but European markets opened mostly lower as the euphoria died down.

Benchmark oil rose above $ 100 a barrel and the dollar was s against the euro and higher against the yen.

Britain’s FTSE 100 was up 0.2 percentage points to 5, 513.64 in early trade. But Germany DAX fell 0.6 percentage points to 6, 053.26 and the French CAC-40 was 0.5 per cent lower at 3, 138.95.

Earlier, Asian markets posted sharp gains. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index jumped 1.9 per cent to close at 8, 597.38. South Korea Kospi surged 3.7 percent to 1, 916.18 and the Hong Kong Hang Seng domed 5.6 percent to 19, 002.26.
